Victoria and New South Wales have been worst affected, as well as South Australia. Although cooler conditions have brought some respite, more than 60 fires are still burning in the states of New South Wales and Victoria. Some 30 people have so far been killed - including four firefighters - and more than 10 million hectares of bush, forest and parks across Australia has burned.
Support the firefighters:
- Country Fire Authority (Victoria) - NSW Rural Fire Service It's been estimated that 1.25 billion native animals have perished in the Australian bushfires, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and more. As many as 8,400 koalas may have already perished in the fires in NSW alone, and these numbers continue to rise.
- Wildlife Victoria - Wildlife Rescue (NSW) Many First Nations people have been affected by these tragic circumstances with losses of homes/severe damage to property and important parts of the landscape. Many of these communities have now been forced to evacuate the region of their homes and forced to seek temporary/ongoing living arrangements in other parts of Victoria and NSW .
- First Relief Fund for First Nation Communities ⚉⚉⚉
